As we age, the tasks involved in dressing and grooming may become arduous. An Eldercare Caregiver knows that buttoning a button can be impossible for someone with neuropathy, arthritis, or paralysis. Putting on shoes and socks can be a back-breaking chore, not to mention the challenge shoe laces can present.

An Eldercare Caregiver will provide whatever assistance is needed. They will work with their client to pick out the outfit and accessories for the day, as well as the pajamas for bedtime. They will also make sure that the clothes have been cleaned (a major concern for some clients who tend to want to wear the same outfit day after day).

An aging person requires proper skin care, manicures, pedicures, shaving, trips to the hairdresser or barber in order to look and feel good. Eldercare Caregivers are trained in the care of aging skin and will pay close attention to the condition and care of skin or skin irritations. Clients who are incontinent and wear protective garments are closely watched to assure that they are clean and dry to prevent skin breakdown or bedsores.

Proper dressing and grooming helps a senior feel good about themselves. And, feeling good about oneself is a key ingredient in being ready for the day and enjoying the activities of the day.
